About K.Rose Art
My work is a way of exploring and understanding who I am. I aim to do this by exploring wide cultural ideas that influence my ways of thinking, such as the objectification of women, by women and also the ideas of sexualisation. The intent is never to shock through my use of subject matter, but rather address the ideas and issues that some of us sweep under the carpet, as a way of comprehending them and learning how to either live with those ideas or move on from them. I believe my work to be honest to myself and my opinions, but often contemplate the potential risks involved with being so open about my personal life. I create pieces that are not only admired for their aesthetics, but also for the ideas and thought processes that have gone into each individual piece. Although I predominantly use painting to convey my ideas, other mediums are often included in my paintings, thus allowing further experimentation with texture and surface.
