How to search in

Following on from the introductory post Learn with, this blog post focuses on how you can search for specific videos you are looking to participate in or use.

Searching by category

As suggested in the benefits section in the previous blog post, you can use through the following two ways.

  1. Developmental mode – formal approach in evaluating your current knowledge and skills to identify learning gaps and work through a course;
  2. Pragmatic mode – an informal approach by dipping in and out and applying the knowledge and skills instantly.

Choose one of the two approaches and search for courses that relate to your learning needs.  To get started, you can hover over the ‘Library’ button at the top of the webpage.  You will then see a range of categories which then fold out into Topics, Software and Learning Paths.

  • Topics – knowledge and skills relating to the chosen category
  • Software – digital tools and systems that relate to carrying out specific tasks with your chosen category
  • Learning Paths – role profiles that allow you to build up related knowledge and skills related to your chosen category - Library

Alternatively, you can browse ‘all subjects’ which lists all categories and the number of courses within them.  Access this by clicking on ‘Library’ at the top of the webpage. - Library 2

Once you have selected a Category, Topic, Software, or Learning Path you can then sort by a filter.  Scroll down a little and you will see the following filter option. - Filter

Here you can filter content by release date or course title.  To the left of your screen you can filter by Topic, Software, Author and Skill level.

Searching by keywords

If you cannot see a topic that you are looking for, you can simply enter specific keywords you want to know more about or it could even be a specific piece of software.  This could be either for yourself or to support your students.

Click into the Search bar and type the keywords of the thing(s) you are looking for. - Search
